Yesterday, my good buddy and fellow Elvis fan Lori Craig (aka stamp_momma) gave me a ringy-dingy and asked me if I had big bloggy plans today. Um, no... why? 'Because it's Elvis's birthday, and we need to celebrate!' she replied. I have to admit, I'm very ashamed that great idea didn't occur to me first! E, I apologize. But thanks to Lori, I've got a little somethin'-somethin' for your viewing pleasure in honor of the king.
Please tell me that is the loudest, tackiest card you've seen in a long, long time. Wouldn't it be perfectly at home in Graceland, amongst the shag carpeted ceilings, the stained glass peacocks, and that funky monkey on the coffee table in the TV room? I truly think Elvis would LOVE it!
I was thinking of Lori when I made it, too. See, I told her I would send her whatever I made, and that I was going to use TCB. She works for the world's greatest website (I know I don't even have to identify it by name for you), and I said I wanted it to be placed prominently in her workspace to remind her to Take Care of Business! Another benefit of its bold & brightness? It should keep her awake -- no nodding off with this baby around!
I heat embossed the TCB and the sentiment, and the tie-dye effect on the main image layer was created using the Bouncing Brayer technique (here's a tutorial for the technique, if you're interested).
So, as your blurfing today, mosey on over to Lori's blog and see what she's dreamed up in honor of our favorite Hunka Hunka Burnin' Love. (ETA: word on the street is that my gal Jenn Balcer is going to be showing Elvis some love on her blog today, too!) And hum a little Elvis tune to yourself while you do so. Just to humor me. But promise one thing: not 'In The Ghetto.' That one always makes me cry...
Come back and see me tomorrow, okay? I'll have part 2 of my Copy-Cattin' 2008 in Review and an announcement.
Thank you, thank you very much. (Carole has left the building.)

What a great card, Carole. I hope that you don't always think of me when you think of 'loud and tacky'... LOL! Next year, maybe we'll girls trip it to Elvis Week! ROFL...what a riot that would be!

"That is the loudest, tackiest card I've seen in a long time!" and fabulously appropriate. I think it's the bling that carries it off so well. Thank you, thank you very much for explaining how you made the tie-dyed effect...it's beautifully done.

I KNEW you'd have an Elvis tribute! Although I'm not a huge Elvis fan (please forgive me!), my mom shares his birthday! I just had to see what you cooked up! It IS fabulously tacky -- the King would have loved it! :)

Shoot, now I need a Kaliedoscope pad! That tie-dye effect is way too cool - I have a hippie stamp I've been dying to use that would be PERFECT with this! Crazy loud card, but I love it!
