As I sat down to create my sample for Jen's Sketch For You To Try this a.m., I was thinking about a dear friend of mine whose only child will be graduating from high school in a week or so. She's kinda having a rough time of it. I predict I'll be a total wreck when Truman graduates six short years from now*, so in an effort to comfort my friend and create good karma for my own eventual breakdown, I made a little card I'm going to send to her to let her know I'm thinking about her...
This card is a combination of some of my favorite themes: sassy, retro images and bright, bold colors. I LOVE this pin-up gal image from Crafty Secrets' Support the Girls set, and the color scheme came from Cosmo Cricket's spunky Girl Friday patterned paper line.
I stamped the gal and sentiment onto a Perfect Paper Panel from MFT (ultra thick! ultra smooth! ultra yummy!), then colored her in with Copics and a Rose Red SU! marker. I masked her off, then airbrushed her background. The middle scalloped strip is a cardstock sticker from the Girl Friday Crafting Kit. I embellished a chipboard flower from Magistical Memories by cutting out the index image of the 'Sunday' patterned paper from the cover sheet of the Crafting Kit (you know, the sheet that shows you images of what's included in the kit), drawing around the flower, cutting it out, adhering it to the flower, then sanding off the edges. I punched a hole in the flower with my Crop-a-Dile, then fastened a cute little Doodlebug Designs cupcake brad in the center (since I don't have a 'cheesecake' brad).
I plan to be back tomorrow with something for all you Moms out there!
