Happy Happy Joy Joy!*
I'm so excited to be teaming up with many of my TCP buddies to be a part of this SURPRISE Birthday Blog Hop in honor of the one and only Miss Meowy, Alma de la Rosa! Alma is the super-genius behind Sprinkle, the Penguins, PJ, and the rest of The Cat's Pajamas' cast of characters. Not only is she an amazing illustrator and business mogul, she's also a top-notch stamper and just an all-around cool chick. She's funny, kind, and smart; they don't make 'em any better than Alma, I can promise you that.
Now, if you're an obedient blog hopper, you arrived here via my pal Katie Stilwater's blog. If you didn't? Well, I'm still thrilled to have you here, of course, but you'll want to make sure to catch all the TCP goodness and to do so, you'll need to start at the beginning of our Big Dadgum Deal with Amy Rohl. She's not only the #1 Hop Spot, she's also this week's TCP Tuesday Hostess With the Mostess! And because we TCP lovers are also multi-tasking mavens, we've combined Amy's supply challenge (to make something WOODY) with making a birthday card for Alma.
I have so been missing my dear friend Sprinkle lately that I chose to highlight her in her most iconic form for my homage d' Alma:
See, one of the things I like best about Sprinkle is also one of the things I like best about her creator: they're both always thinking. Alma's always thinking of new stamps and products to delight us stampers, and Sprinkle? Well, she's got her priorities, too: cake, gifts, and adult beverages (but not necessarily in that order). I harvested images from several different TCP sets to make this triptych, including It's a Mod, Mod World (for Sprinkle), You Say It's Your Birthday (cake thought bubble), Deck the Hall (present thought bubble), and Smells Like Cake (sentiment). The drink thought bubble is an individual image, Think Drink.
I stamped Sprinkle out three times, trimmed closely around her and popped her up on foam dimensionals. Same with the thought bubbles. The sentiments have been glued flat to the patterned paper layer. You'll note that I used the same color scheme, patterned paper, and many of the same embellishments for this card that I used for the one I posted earlier today. I'm trying to 'stamp smarter, not harder.' I'll tell you more about that on a different post. This card is long-note sized (6.5" x 3.25"), by the way.
For my WOODY element, I used some really cool paper I picked up from my LSS that's actually made out of cherry wood. It's by Creative Imaginations, and its got a thin veneer of wood adhered to a paper backing. I used it for the scallop layer, and it cut very nicely with my MFT Jumbo Scallop Die-namic.
*Alma, I dedicate this to you:
