Have Yourself a Preppy Little Christmas...

Good Monday morning, friends! Or, as Carter has been calling it, "Like Thursday!" because school lets out for Fall Break after class on Tuesday. 

Mid-October already?  Crazy... Christmas will be here before we know it! Good thing I'm already in the swing of Christmas card making. Check out this pink & green little number I created for this week's Mojo Monday using the new O CHRISTMAS TREE die from Taylored Expressions:

If that doesn't warm the cockles of your Lilly-Pulitzer-lovin' heart, nothing will. I'm always looking for an excuse to use my favorite color combo, and was inspired this time by the ribbon, which comes in the current TE Key Ingredients kit. As I got going, I decided to add the yellow because light pink and/or green rhinestones looked a little flat against the tree. A little hand-stitching seemed called for, too.

In other news, the fam is getting on the Paleo bandwagon. Truman's basketball team is doing CrossFit and the coaches are encouraging this eating program for the players. Seeing as it's the same amount of work to do it for all of us as it is to do it for one of us (in addition to the fact that I need to lose about 30 lbs.), we're all going to be eating like cavemen. Can't say I'm really looking forward to it, but I know I need to make some changes. If any of you have tried this, and have any hints, tips, anecdotes, testimony, etc., I'd love to hear 'em.

Taylored Expressions October Stamp of the Month Kit: Instant Love

This month's Taylored Expressions Stamp of the Month Kit is for all the music lovers in the house -- and, really, doesn't that mean it's for all of us?  I don't know about you, but pop music was and is a huge part of my life, especially during the '80s, also known as the heyday of the cassette tape.  Thus, this month's SOTM is very close to my heart.  See why...

I've long been wanting to make a mix-CD for my husband of songs that remind me of him/our relationship, and after I saw this month's SOTM, I figured this was the perfect opportunity. Thus, I found a tutorial for a CD case on Splitcoast and made this CD holder, highlighting a few of included songs on the cassette images, like so:

High Art Hot Dog

For whatever reason, Taylored Expressions' August Stamp of the Month kit brought out my naughty side. Mind you, that's not exactly a difficult thing to do when one considers I have the sense of humor of a thirteen-year-old boy. See what I mean?

It's supposed to look like an aerial view of a campfire. The more I look at it though, besides the obvious wiener reference, there's something very Georgia O'Keefe-y about that campfire, created using TE's new Build-A-Scene Sunshine and Swirly Clouds dies. I take back my thirteen-year-old boy comment. This is HIGH ART!  As Carter used to say, "The family is proud!"

 

 

Taylored Expressions: July Key Ingredients Kit

Hey, gang.  Just a quickie today -- Carter has his surgery first thing this morning, and I've got to get up and around.  It's sure to be a long day, and I ache that my little guy has to go through stuff like this.  He's got such a wonderful attitude, though, and as far as he's concerned, what's a little pain and suffering in exchange for more Lego sets? (We hit up the Lego store in the Mall of America after our various appointments yesterday.)  On the bright side, personally, there's a little cafe within the hospital that serves the BEST tuna melt, so at least I've got one thing to look forward to today...

Clearly, I still had my wacky ink colors out (Adirondack Brights - Clover, and SU Pink Passion) from making yesterday's card when I pieced this number together.  I'm calling it 'Preppy-Neon-Shabby-Chic.'  What's that, you say?  You aren't sold on my 'branding'?  Come on. Work with me people; the highlight of my day is already a tuna melt... ;)
