Howdy gang! I've got another take on the March Sketch For You To Try - and you've got until midnight tonight to get yours done before April starts. I know its a sweet, spring Saturday, but come on. You don't really have anything better to do, particularly if you're sitting here reading my blog. You know I speak the truth. ;)
This month's SFYTT is sponsored by THE CRAFT'S MEOW, and I pulled out the fabulous and versatile SEW LOVELY set one more time to create an all-purpose card for my stash. I don't know about you, but I can never have enough of these sorts of cards - good for thank yous, birthdays, encouragement, or what not. Just to refresh your memory, here's a look at this month's Sketch:
I flipped it on its side (that's allowed, you know):
Before I got started this morning, I checked out the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge for this week, which was to use Elegant Eggplant, Concord Grape, and Melon Mambo. I can't remember the last time I participated in a SCS challenge, and this color combination just obnoxious enough to capture my imagination. So if you're looking at the card and thinking, "Hmm... that ribbon really doesn't match", know that it's by design. I used TCP's Button and Flower Button CutUps dies and felt to create my corner embellishment. The patterned paper is from Echo Park's 6"x6" Springtime pad, and the inks I used were Adirondack Brights Watermelon and Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. The label shaped image is a perfect fit for Spellbinders' Nestablilities Labels Four dies. Easy-peasy!
Have you got big plans for the weekend? I got a wild hair yesterday and decided to invite some friends over for dinner tonight. It's been a long time since we've done any entertaining, and for some strange reason, I'm in the mood. I'm on the hunt for a good Mojito recipe for pre-dinner cocktails, so if you've got one, send it my way. Not sure what sort of appetizer I'll whip up (maybe this yummy black-eyed pea hummus I fixed for New Year's Day; it's so good, I've been craving it ever since), but the rest of the menu is White House Grilled Lemon Mustard Chicken, salad, roasted parmesan cauliflower, asiago bread with butter, and Key Lime Pie for dessert. Mmm-mmm good!
And then tomorrow? The new season of Game of Thrones starts! Life is good! I hope you can say the same. Tomorrow is also April Fools' Day. I don't have any pranks planned yet, but I'm sure something will come to me... By the way, the temp here is supposed to get to 90 degrees tomorrow. Isn't that crazy? So much for Spring! Have a great weekend, and I'll see you bright and early Mojo Monday morning.
